ICheilosia vulpina > Tribe: Cheilosiini *
Description (according to Stubbs & Falk): This species has a southern distribution, but a few records extend to North Yorkshire (my specimen was photographed in Wolverhampton) and there is a single record by the Firth of Forth. It is most frequently encountered on umbellifer flowers (as was this one) and occurs in a range of grasslands, woodland clearings, heathland and coastal dunes. Males have been see hovering a few centimetres above a woodland ride and visiting flowers of daisy. April to September, peaking twice, in June and again in August.

* Identification highly possible, but by no means certain. If anybody viewing this page can confirm or refute this identification, I would be very pleased to hear from you!
