Description: Generally black and white and velvet-like in appearance, although there are brown variations (pictured). Usually found near water, mostly on man-made metal structures; rarely on vegetation (the one pictured here was found on metal railings alongside the River Severn in Ironbridge, Shropshire). Locally distributed throughout the UK. |
